It's quite nice to see if you are in the area - but really just a nice "picnic spot" by the water, as there are no real "gardens" to speak of - just some nice plants at the entrance.

Guadalcanal is essentially a jungle island. There are plants and birds everywhere. This attempt at a botanical garden is fairly ludicrous. It is down a very bumpy road. There are a few trails though they are not well kept. The orchid house is empty. There...More

The botanic gardens is really sad. It was once obviously really good, but now is a shadow of it's former self and is now a poorly maintained remnant of it's former times.

A nice little area hidden away. Generally well kept, and the trees have nice explanations concerning their properties and uses by the local people. The taxi driver warned me to be careful, but I had no problems. There was no entry fee when I went.

Nice hiking path through the woods, following the stream. There were greenhouses, some orchids and a nice natural pond with lots of lillies.

The guide took me around and did explain that the Government had not submitted any funds for the Botanical Garden for a long time. Dead Orchids, rubbish in the river, looked like a tropical forest and if I hadn't been told would never have thought...More

If you want to sell this place to tourists as a botanical garden, then there is a lot to be done. First make it safer to visit. There are instances of tourists being robbed. Get rid of the drunken youth who hang around. Place needs...More
