Think one the most accessible places for snorkerllers looking for a day trip off Honiara. The wreck is just 50 meters from the shore.

The road out to Mbonege is often pretty rough, but that's part of the adventure. There's a charge for diving, but that's fair enough and the beach is kept pretty neat and clean. But the wrecks are world class dives, lots of life, lots of...More

Its a great place, but the owners need to put in proper toilets for the public to use. And proper rubbish bins must be put in place for waste management.

Mbonege Beach is lovely in the mornings before the wind gets up so you can snorkel before the sea gets too rough. There is a Japanese wreck which you can snorkel just off the beach. As noted please be mindful that about 10 steps into...More

A 20 minutes drive away from Honiara. There is Japanese world war two wreck just on the fringe of the beach. Just watch out for occasional sea lice later in the day.

Compared to a lot of what else is in Honiara this is a really nice day out. Easy place to spend the day with a swim, snorkel and picnic. Great for families.

About 30 minutes from downtown Honiara. A nice beach site for wreck diving and snorkelling. An old Japanese cargoship Tonegawamaru, sunk during the WW2, is just about 30m away from the beach, and you just can walk right into the sea. Beach entry fee to...More

The land is owned by families and there is a fee for going on to the beach. Be wary and don't overpay. We got our room maids brother to show us around. We felt safe while with him and he took us to various places.
