There was a lot of reading. Very good informative reading. It gave a very good review of the history of Palau. I was talking with our cab driver on way back to hotel and as someone from Palau it was interesting to hear him talk about how his grandparents spoke German, parents Japanese and he, English. It meant more after... More

If you are interested in the history of Palau, you must see this museum. It has exhaustive information about the country's colonization by the Spain, Germany, Japan and the US. While the info may not be complete, it gives a good background.

OK, so we know Palau doesn't have much in the way of museum curators.....and this is one of two private museums that has taken a shot at it. That being said, it's worth a few minutes for some thinking about the Palaun independence movement and the anti-nuclear sentiments that have since developed here. Worthwhile thinking for sure.

The museum has humble but informative collection of artifacts and documents on Palauan history and ethnography. Outdoor presentation includes traditional Bai house and remains of the WWI. There is also a small caffee, a souvenir shop (with reasonable prices comparing to other places in Koror) and last but not least - a clean toilet :-)

We enjoyed our visit to this museum very much. The indoor exhibits were much more informative than the outdoor exhibits and were particularly good at explaining the consequences of changes in colonial powers had on the islanders. But don't miss browsing the bookstore. I picked up a rare book there I value very much by J Roman Bedor. It's a... More

Learned a lot going through the exhibits. The museum focused a lot on the impacts brought to Palau by outsiders and chronologically displayed photos and text about the history of the island.

First of all, the smell was a bit annoying. We all got a bit sick from the odd smell. Not so much to see

Nice place if you are history lover. You can spend whole day reading about history of the island. There are a lot of samples of every day life from the past.

The Belau National Museum is a well-recommended visit for those of us fortunate to spend some time in amazing Palau. The rich history of the Palaun people and their legacy is described in glorious color with a deserved emphasis on the magnificent nearby reefs and the glorious indigenous sea life. My favorite part of the museum was in reference to... More
