Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The casino is a good size, clean, and quite modern. Several machines, blackjack with min bet of 250, roulette of 50 it seems to me. The tables with super friendly staff who give explanations. Roulette table set at 200 and BJ table at 1000 on weekends and 500 on other days. The ladies at the entrance are very nice, on the other hand the person in charge of the machines on the evening of 10/28 was very unpleasant. You should do customer contact training with him, it ruins the experience and doesn't make you want to come back.

This casino next to Le Meridien in Noumea is little more than a bad leagues club. The place is rather drab, not well lit and they do not have a very good dress code. People walk in with thongs and the clientele look like complete bogans. The poker machines are confusing as they have a different system of how you pay for credits and they are not so easy to operate. There are no complimentary drinks and the drinks they have are expensive. The people at the front desk actually wanted to keep hold of my partners passport which I wouldn't let him do but they insisted on keeping hold of our drivers licences whilst we were in the casino which I thought was very odd and could leave guests open to the possibility of identity fraud if any of the people there aren't honest. It all had a very sleazy atmosphere and I would never go there again.

The Casino has bright lights on the outside and inside it was like going to an old run down club. 2 rooms, 1 for slot machines and the other for poker. While there were locals in attendance it was a place I wouldn't and didn't spend much time in. 30 years ago casinos were a novelty, sadly they are a growing business and this one hasn't changed.

Although most hotels will offer a free and some chips to bet with, just stay away.

The "casino" which is an RSL club ( a poor one) doesnt open until 8pm, you can play the pokies before then though.

I wasn't allowed in the upstairs casino to play "tables" as I was wearing shorts, fair enough but I wasnt allowed my free drink or chips either, and the staff were incredibly rude to me, I didn't even complain, I understood.

It's a dive here, don't go. Stick with your local RSL at home.

30 years ago we were in Noumea and remember the old charming casino. Things have changed for the worse. We arrived at 5pm with hopes of a flutter and a cocktail on the terrace. The staff all Kanak were hostile, this was a surprise since we had found them to be quite friendly compared to the local French in other situations.

The place was depressing and as with everything else in Noumea expensive. The downstairs gambling room was dingy. My friend had a glass of white wine ( Chateau cardboard) $10. The place was was filled with tragic locals who were gambling their
pension cheques. We were clearly not welcome. The worst thing we did in Noumea.

I am quite surprised this place currently shows as four stars. Like others have mentioned, we went because of receiving $500 credits from Le Meridien. We were immediately turned off by the staff at the door. No one was friendly. The slots were tired and confusing. The payouts were even more so. The "Jackpot Cafe" was absolutely depressing. We've been to small casinos in remote locations before. We were expecting at least that at this location. We were very underwhelmed. Shame, too, as it sits directly in from of such a great Meridien property.

Side note: They keep your passport while you gamble. Red flag.

The only reason to go here is for the toasted sandwiches in the coffee shop/cafe. We discovered this on our first night when we just wanted a quick bite and weren't sure of our surroundings. We returned a couple of nights later after dinner to try our hand at the gaming tables (starting with some comped chips and drinks from our hotel). The gaming floor doesn't open till 8pm but even by 9.30pm when we arrived there were only a couple of other people playing the tables, most of the tables were empty. The gaming floor is tiny. Despite our voucher for a free drink being a picture of a glass of champagne this is not one of the drinks you can redeem it for........??? the croupier on our roulette tablet couldn't have been more disinterested if he tried. No interactions whatsoever. The other tables looked to be similar. I can't comment on the poker machines - this area did seem to be busier though so it may be better (can't be worse!)

I think in my head I was expecting more Monte Carlo than roots hill RSL however it was fun playing blackjack lovely staff drinks are fine and we laughed a lot. The croupiers are really patient when you are learning. Locals go there and are sweet to learners as well

We decided to drop into the Grand Casino as we were thinking of having dinner here for a change since we were staying next door at the Chateau Royal Hotel.

The casino looks like a RSL club with pokies everywhere & a gambling room upstairs which wasn't open until 8pm. Although my hubby likes to collect casino chips we decided to give the casino a miss as it wasn't inviting & the staff were actually rude.

Maybe later at night it would be operating better but at 7pm it was pretty average.
