The actual trip (boat trip out, island, lighthouse, water/beach, walking round the island, glass bottom boat experience) was very, very, good, and the lunch and 'show' completely unexpected and very, very welcome. But above all, what impressed, was the staff/crew. And to find out that cyclone Gabrielle had just the previous month basically devastated their facilities and operation made the whole trip and the lunch, etc, even more impressive. Bravo!

What an amazing day trip this was to celebrate my birthday with family and friends. The island is clean, well-kept and maintained. We booked via Mary D and their service, staff, lunch, boat tour, entertainment & entire experience was 💯! Views from the lights house are also spectacular 😍 Definitely recommend this tour as you can also swim here given there are restrictions to the beaches in Noumea. Merci Beaucoup for the best time.

Individual (small number of people) bookings are not recommended. Group reservations seem to have priority. If you make an individual reservation, please be prepared to be changed the schedule.
In our case, this tour was canceled 4 times in a row, and we were not able to participate because the tour company told us unilaterally that they would not conduct the tour.
The reason why the tours were canceled was that there was a reservation for a group tour after our reservation and the number of participants was not enough, etc.

A bucket list adventure! The booking (email or ring directly as the website was inaccurate) but great service to accommodate us. Book directly with Mary D. Picked up from hotel in a coach. Timings were impeccable. Greeted with friendly crew on a well maintained boat. Timetables for glass bottom boat were well organised with wrist band colours. Found ourselves an excellent spot before freely exploring the island. Lighthouse stairs - not for the faint hearted but worth it when you look around at the view. Lunch was absolutely superb! You never had to worry about food running out as it just kept coming! All you can eat and drink. Take your own snorkelling equipment to ensure health and that it works. The coral and fish are breathtaking… and then the turtles!!!! An unmissable adventure awaits!

DO not go there! I have never been so disgusted in my life. We took the water taxi to the island. Once there all travellers started to make use of the hundreds of chairs scattered over the island but a rude maintenance worker told us we were not permitted to use them. These chairs were in all he areas of shade on the island and the sand wasn't smooth soft sand, it was full of rocks and little burs. The supposed reason we could not sit on a chair was because they were reserved for cruise passenger, yes, fair enough, we understand what reserved means but we were the only ones on the island that day and additionally we had offered to pay to be able to sit on these very precious chairs. It was just to much to walk past hearing the father off the infant being told he can not put the baby off the ground and on the chair. He too was offering to pay for the use of the chair. I was stunned when this same creep refused. There are that many sea snakes all round no one wanted to be sitting with them. And you know what this creep and his crew did before leaving the island? They blocked off our access to any shelter and the toilets! They left because they knew a storm was coming and they do this.

you should have reverted your complaint to the taxi boat who took you to the island without giving you the necessary information.
you are not our customers and you complained you cannot access out facilities!!!!
they should have advised your group and all taxi boat clients that you do not have access to beach furniture and sea snakes are everywhere., they are just part of nature like flies and mosquitoes.
the Amedee Island is a public beach, however, all installation are privately owned. When we operate, the beach furniture are reserved exclusively to our customers and during the days we do not operate, everything is closed.
We also tied up all beach furniture and locked up everything before a storm, if not, everything would be washed away after the storm, it is only natural we protect our installation and investment.
come with us next time and it would be an amazing experience...

After my less than perfect snorkel experience at Duck Island, I was looking forward to this and I must say I was not disappointed. It begins with a great boat ride from Port Moselle and if you’re staying at a major hotel, transfer to and from the port is included.
As soon as you arrive you can immediately see some of the most crystal clear waters and coral reefs anywhere. There is plenty of time for the water experience throughout the day long adventure. You can snorkel and paddle board.
And there is the lighthouse too. I wouldn’t call myself a well conditioned athlete, but I made the climb just by pacing myself. The views are majestic and well worth the climb. Although I have a fear of heights, the climb to the top is comfortable and I am glad I made the effort.
A magnificent buffet lunch is provided along with some really good cultural entertainment.
If I do ever come back to Noumea, I would certainly do it again.
PS. Lots of sea snakes around, but they’re very timid and more afraid of you.

I joined a package tour by Mary D. They picked me up at the hotel and took a 45-minute ferry ride from the center of Noumea. The color of the sea is really beautiful, and you can see a lot of different fish even in shallow areas. My legs hurt after climbing the lighthouse, but it might be worth it if it's your first time. I also sent a postcard from the smallest post office in the world.

What a great trip, was looking at the reviews, and was a little worried about snakes. I saw more turtles then snakes. There were 5 snakes we saw, and the are not curious, they do their own thing. The turtles are majestic, was so cool to see them up close.
1 warning, we thought we could rent snorkel gear on the island, they are not part of Mary D, and we're not.open when we went there, it was disappointing, but not Mary D's fault at all
There are tons of staff to help you, the lunch was great. This is a must do trip, and please do not worry about the snakes.

I always recommend the Phare
Amadee day trip to friends and visitors. It’s well run, the food is delicious and the island itself is simply paradise. Even though the activity is touristy, the island is big enough to spread out and have a feeling of space. A classy offering in NC! Book through the Mary D.

This was a lovely place except for the huge amount of blue banded sea snakes. These are all over the place coming right past your legs when in the water. Slithering past you when walking around.
The food was the best buffet food I have ever had. Excellent quality, very tasty and plenty of it. (I’m extremely fussy with food)
Swimming with the numerous turtles when low tide.

Can you only get to the island via a tour? can you just catch a boat from the port?

Noumea was just added to our itinerary for HOLLAND AMERICA NOORDAM. Our ship arrives on Saturday, NOV 5th, 2022, at 8:00 AM and departs at 5:00 pm. I would like to book the full day Amedee Lighthouse boat/buffet/snorkel tour . So would other cruise ship passengers. Are we able to do this on the Trip Advisor website? Our ship arrival and departure time don’t seem to match the times of the tour.

Hello! Is this place suitable for young kids? I’m looking to visit late February and my daughter will be 11months whilst my son 4 years old. I’m just a little concern about the snakes!

Is there a maximum number of visitors allowed on the island on any given day? Would hate it to be wall-to-wall people after spending $400+AUD to spend the day there!
