A good day time attraction, which is reasonably priced. Although you won't spend the day here, if you like learning about local culture and history you will find this the place to be.

If you like culture then you must go here. This has 2 floors of native artifacts such as canoes, huts and details of wood carving used for housing. Very clean and in English. Get a seniors discount over 60 yr old!

Great museum of indigineous culture of New Caledonia & surrounding Pacific islands There are wonderful traditional artifacts .. There is a small entry charge - you need SPFrancs. There is just about enough English signage to help you understand what you are looking at. Covers 2 floors

It is a very small museum but has some fascinating things from the Kanak culture in it.The staff were wonderfully friendly. While we were there, an exhibition linking past with present art. Lots of wonderful things to see. Like everywhere else on the islane you need local currency

Not the best museum I've been to, but interesting anyway for a first-time visitor to Noumea. Worth a look, but credit cards not accepted to pay for admission, and no Aussie dollars....only local currency - the pacific franc.

If you want to acquaint yourselves with Melanesean culture this museum is a good opportunity. The exhibits along with information provided are good enough to make you aware of local history and the inhabitants' way of life and you can spend sometime communing with it at its colorful. But don't forget to have local currency.

From large scale carvings to small trinkets, the exhibits are world class. They are arranged nicely with good explanations. Downstairs concentrates on New Caledonia. Upstairs there are items from all over the South Pacific
