Japanese Guns

There are a few abandoned relics from when the Japanese were in Nauru. Guess it was too hard to retrieve them when they left.

Basically we only found old Japanese guns positioned randomly throughout the island in people's front gardens rusting in the bushes. The fact that they have been literally unmoved since WWII in itself is interesting. There are also Japanese bunkers scattered around the coastline of the island.

Nothing much to see unless you are interested in history! Otherwise all that you see are some dilapidated gun positions along the beach!

Amazing that these are still standing albeit in a state of decay. Gives some insight into the Naruan history

If you want to learn about the Japanese occupation of Nauru in the 1940's there is still a lot to be seen - sometimes just from the side of the road. Otherwise, there are walks you can do - but get a guide. They are still digging up camps they didn't know about at Top Site.
