Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Reasonable safe area to walk along the beach with nice water views and certainly worth visiting whilst here.

I come to POM for work at least 4 times a year and have seen Ela Beach come into its own since a major upgrade was undertaken for the APEC Summit in 2018 which also saw the construction of the impressive APEC Haus right on the beach.

For a city known for being dangerous (much overstated in my opinion) I feel more than comfortable taking my afternoon walk along Ela Beach while I’m staying nearby (Grand Papua or Crown Hotel). There’s locals everywhere playing footy on the beach and in the basketball courts and they’ll happily say hi with a smile as you walk past. One time I even chatted with a couple of kids who were interested in following me. It’s a happy, lively place in the afternoons with excellent views out to Walter Bay, Gabutu & APEC house.

Last time i visited Ela Beach was 10 years ago and it was dirty and dingy. Today a vibrant place for families to visit and swim, play volleyball, basketball. Beautiful place to visit.

Ella Beach certainly has changed since I was there last (2008). New buildings / Hotels boardwalk, swimming beach. It's great seeing some money spent on this area & was well patronized by the locals.

I beautiful place to visit and have a day out with family or friends or both. The beach is a part of an ambitious development happening around Paga Hill.
