A park with a fence

It is my first time in a city park surrounded by a fence, even though it is in the heart of the city, dogs are not allowed either, I guess every country is different.

Don't miss this great part of Asunción. The architecture is spectacular. It will bring you back to a simpler time when life was slower and there was time to enjoy. Browse the open air markets on the weekends and the street sellers everyday. If you look you can find some great authentic local treasures at great values. Visit some local... More

Plaza Uruguaya is a nice park in the center of Asuncion where you can relax and take a break during a typical hot day. There are people playing chess and you can share a Terere, the national drink, with some friendly locals!

A pleasant square surrounded by bookshops and street vendors - and full of people meeting up with friends or just going for a stroll. A nice place during the day, but dodgy after dark.

We like coming to Plaza Uruguaya when in Asu. The places to eat around here are good and the shade this offers on a hot day is welcome and cooling.

This is a kind a center of the town. It's a little park right next to the old train station. There are couple of book shops in the park and not much else to do but you can definitely sit down on the bench to relax after a walk or cut through the park to go to some restaurant in... More

One of the central places in Asuncion. It's pretty well maintain, full of people and interesting things. This is the old part of the town, so there is a lot of history here. It's popular with the locals. Yes, some may look poor (and they are), but they are friendly and it's a safe place to be, so just relax... More

This is a lovely square in the old part of Asuncion, a nice if slightly seedy respite. There are benches to watch the world go by, and beautiful landscaping. But the best part of Uruguay Plaza is the book stores, oddly shaped huts in the middle of the park that are crammed with books. Nearly all of them are in... More

walk about 30m towards the micro-centre on Mcal Estigarribia and on your left you will find a great little cafe/bar called Cafe El Literario. It's two levels, full of books and cool cinema posters. It's open from 3pm-1am, probably not Sundays. When i was there early evening it was full of a designer-looking crowd - tatoos and Macs and big... More
