Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the resident of a barrister in the colonial state legislature which now houses collections from around the various regions of Guyana. The Amerindian culture is depicted and explained in this colonial style building fitted with Demerara shutters , a remnant of past glory days.

This small museum has free entry and offers an insight into the lives of Guyana's native Indian population. Photographs are not allowed inside.

A modest place containing an unusual collection of artefacts. There is no entry cost but a donation is welcome. The information and items are displayed in a traditional style with no fancy gimmicks but you can't help but be drawn to things and take away some piece of information that you hadn't previously known.

Very informative tour. Could almost picture the Indians of the time when Walter Roth was in Guyana.
Roths book was helpful in this respect.

Guys like Schomburg would never have imagined that their hard work would be preserved in this facility. Want to learn more about the Indigenous people of Guyana? This is the place.

This museum is very educational. The historical photographs are worth a look in addition to the exhibits. It is located in a posh neighborhood by Georgetown standards. It even has some small gifts available for purchase on the second floor.

This Museum was named in honor of Dr. Walter Roth medical doctor, geologist, magistrate and benefactor of Guyana's indigenous peoples.
This building which was originally constructed for private use in the 1880's, houses a significant anthropological and archaeological collection. The only museum of its kind in the English speaking Caribbean and contains a large collection of pre-Columbian relics.

Not on the scale of metropolitan museums but a fitting memorial to a remarkable man; good to see continuing work in the archaeology of Guyana.

Totally unsure what to expect when we decided to visit this Museum. My friend and I had seen this advertised before we went to Guyana and thought it would be good to see. It is a good place to go to learn about the People of Guyana. There are many things to look at and learn about. It is free, there is a donation box if you feel so inclined to leave a donation. There are two levels with a person there to aid if you need it. It is self guided, and open for pictures. As with most Museums I have been to I would go with no flash for pictures. They also have a spot on the upper level to purchase local made things, books about the area and other little trinkets.

A bit dry, but it does contain information about the Amerindian peoples of Guyana and their culture.
