We were here to catch our Graffiti Tour
Jun. 2019
The park is dedicated to the Nobel Prize winner Marquez.
It also has a feature called the Temple of the Liberator which honors Simon Bolivar..
The Bogota Graffiti tour begin here.

Felt unsafe even during the day
Jan. 2020
We were approached a few times and it felt unsafe. It’s close to a main road and lots of people but still felt very uneasy. Police are around moving people on. So walk through but don’t spend anytime there.

With Temple of the Liberator
Dec. 2019
Ever since the Temple of the Liberator was inaugurated in 1886, statues of Bolivar have been moved in and out. When I visited again the statue was wrapped for some reason. The original purpose for building the small temple was to celebrate Bolivar's one hundredth birthday, but more recently it was decided to add Gabriel Garcia Marques, the writer and journalist, who perhaps in a way was a Liberator as well.

The meaning of the word parque is rather different from what we understand to be a park in NW Europe. Here it could mean a paved place with some trees in concrete containers and a patch of green grass. Still this triangular shaped parque is a pleasant place as it is free of cars and suitable for pedestrians. During one of my visits there was a band playing and people gathered to protest against the government.

Starting point of our tour !
Jan. 2019 • Friends
The only reason we went there was that it was the gathering point for our Graffiti tour . The Park itself is not very interesting and there were a few beggars annoying the tourists there .

Good for a quick walk through
Oct. 2017 • Solo
Lovely looking park to walk through but the floor and surroundings were quite dirty. Some homeless persons linger and there are people with dogs and those 'making out' which is common in Colombia. I did not feel comfortable to spend any length of time but walk briskly through.

Nice park, but not much to do
Jul. 2017
A nice park to sit and people watch. There isn't much nature or any other outdoor activities available.

GET THE LEAD OUT BOGOTA
Dec. 2016 • Solo
This park needs lots of work. Double the cleaners and half the policemen. A good start would be to clean up the Bolivar statue. And some statutes of journalists would help because after all this is suppose to be the Park of the Journalists. And you know that little creek that runs through, well it should be spotless not a slime filled plastic bag trap.

Visit if in the area
Jul. 2016
Nice central location. Obligatory Bolivar statue. Slice of life in Bogota. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit but it's so central you'll likely end up here whether you like it or not!
