Is not called La Magdalena, the correct name of this neighborhood is LA MACARENA. Probably if you ask a cab driver (or anyone) to take you to La Magdalena they will either give you a confused look or take you somewhere completely different. This quirky...More

You definitely will not go hungry in the La Macarena area! There are plenty of restaurants and even a grocery store to get food in this neighborhood. This was the first place that I visited once I arrived in Bogota after checking into my hotel....More

This area is a very nice in Bogotà, we went during the day and everything seemed nice and good. As I understood after 7pm is not safe.

Come to this area when hungry. There are a lot of bars and restaurants. The area is nice to walk around in during the day, I did feel safe. Of my entire trip, I only felt unsafe one time at night around 11pm in this...More

There is much variety in the architecture of the buildings, old narrow streets - just what you would expect of an older Latin American city. little shops and cafes, stands with local favourites - definitely a part of Bogota you don't want to miss.

I stopped and had a glass of wine here.... The wine selection was mediocre and the ambiance and service weren't that good. Was expensive for a glass of below average wine. The location is great however...

For newer tourists to Bogota, the Macarena neighborhood is an excellent choice. It is close to downtown, but filled with interesting restaurants.

A lovely little hilly neighborhood hidden behind the main roads in central Bogota. The restaurants and shops are all small. No tall buildings, or traffic to deal with. Close to the Modern Art Museum, parks and easily accessible by the metro buses.
