The Banco de la República Gold Museum houses one of the most important collections of pre-Hispanic metallurgy in the world. As its history, which dates back to 1939, has unfolded, so this institution has become a symbol of Colombia's cultural memory. Its golden exhibition, fully renewed in November, 2008, is a place you cannot miss in your next trip to Bogota.

How can this be rated other than Excellent. The exhibits and objects are not only intricate but tell us a lot about the culture of the early Columbian civilisations. The exhibits are well laid out. The final exhibit, the raft, is one of the ostentatiousness exquisite objects I've ever seen. Simply unmissable,

The gold artifacts themselves are specatular. The intricacy and skill for the time was amazing. However, what the museum does exceptional well is to use the wonderful pieces of art to tell the history and early culture o Columbia.

You can spend the entire day in this museum, that holds an infinite number of treasures. The museum is modern, super well organised and clean, with also a cute restaurant and shop.

This museum charges an entry fee of 4.000 which isn't bad at all for the collection they have. It was nicely laid out and the flow of the museum is pretty easy to follow as well.

Entrance fee was 4000 CP, very cheap. Thousands of pieces of gold on display, we spent about two hours here and walked all the exhibits and read most all displays, I would say allow at least two hours to visit, three to four would be better.

this is a must on any visit to Bogota and needs a minimum of 2-3 hours to appreciate the extent and quality of the collection not stolen by the colonial powers.
