When this place opened a while ago it promised to bring an alternative to commercial cinemas. Sadly there are few choices regarding foreign and independent movie selection. You'll end up having same lame movies as other places. A real waste of money.

On July 12 2013, the Cinemateca Boliviana had it's 37th birthday, something very significant in a country where cultural activities have never benefited from government support. Sustained efforts from individuals and institutions that contributed with funding, equipment or small contributions finally crystallised in a new building specially designed with four cinemas, library, documentation center, and other features.
