This is a must do in South America. Nothing beats the sheer thrill of sailing down the rocky road, and bumping and shaking your way to Corioca. Highly recommend Ride On tours - a local Bolivian company that are cheaper than the others but have exceptional safety equipment , top of the range bikes, local and knowledgable guides and small... I was reluctant to do this initially, since it seemed a bit of an excessive risk (and I'm not exactly risk averse generally). Also I do a fair bit of MTB in the UK so I didn't need to come this far to risk my life on a bike ;). However a group of mates convinced me... And I'm glad... More

Absolutely fantastic ride - I'd call myself a confident cyclist but only ridden a mountain bike once, years ago, and loved it. I was terrified but the "drop" really isn't anywhere near as bad as it seems, you will be fine!! The only thing that scared me was the quality of some of the bikes/guiding. A couple of people skidded... More

Do not take a local bus from Rurrenabaque to La Paz if you do not want to pray all the way :-D Seriously this was the most crazy experience (more than riding a death road on the bike). Even though it was not rainy season the way was totally muddy, driver was crazy, bus does not have toilet and you... More

As soon as I went down by bike i thought "I would do this again right away!". It was just amazing, going down was taking around 2 hours andthoug we were travelling on the budget, I believe the money was spent in the best way possible. The views you having and a fun and thrill by from going down are... More

I was a little sceptical of doing this popular touristy ride. However after 5 months of travelling South America it was a highlight - definitely recommend!

Definitely happy with our decision to just get the local bus to Coroico rather than doing a mountain bike tour. If you are on a budget like us then it is a great option. You get to enjoy the views of the region for between 20 and 30 Bs. Plus the way the minibus drivers overtake, you get just as... More

Before visiting Bolivia, I read about bicycling on this Death Road('El Camino de la Muerte'). Description like ' the world’s most dangerous road in 1995, with an estimated 200 to 300 people killed on this road every year’ made me very scary. The name itself promotes this. I thought, I will do something else in La Paz while my colleagues... More

Great day with the 3 absolutly nice Guides/Drivers from Barracuda. You really cant do it better. For 600 Bolivianos you get excellent gear, a nice ride, pictures, a shirt, excellent lunch buffet at a place were you can use the pool..

Very cool to do this road by bike. But please, don't just take a cheap company. We did, and the bikes were dodgy. Tour guide was just biking, nothing else. Food was bad. Still: great views, great biking and a real thrill.
