I've done "Death Road" 8 or 9 times over the past several years as part of a medical mission group. It is one of the scariest things I have done though there are many many roads in Bolivia that far surpass the danger though they...More

This is the number one thing to do in La Paz. Death Road doesn’t disappoint it’s scary, thrilling and exciting. It’s also a bit safer in modern times than your might have seen on TV.

I looked at a few different companies and various reviews. All things considered I decided to do the ‘passenger option’ with gravity assist and I was not disappointed. The scenery was spectacular, the driving safe and overall it was a highlight of my time in...More

Yungas Road was the highlight of my trip to Bolivia. The sights were amazing throughout the bike ride. Probably only advisable for those who are in good physical condition. You can take your time biking down, but the terrain is challenging no matter how fast...More

Booked everything myself. Stayed at Europa hotel - brilliant and went with gravity - brilliant. For $100 or so got a taxi with guide to take me to lake Titicaca also brilliant.

I did it in August on my 60th birthday. I DO cycle a bit and didn't find it too taxing as its all down hill. Hands are bound to get tired from all the vibration. I got a private ride back up a different road as I came off my... More

Good question re your "kids", but how old are they? The descent is steep and the rough road adds to the danger. There are no guard rails! As an elementary teacher 35 years experience, I would be very hesitant about taking... More
