This Bolivian road is well known not only for it's high altitude and amazing scenery but also for the extreme biking tours and was one of the reasons we took the trip to Bolivia. Doing the 'Death Road' bike trip was on my husband's bucket...More
I've done "Death Road" 8 or 9 times over the past several years as part of a medical mission group. It is one of the scariest things I have done though there are many many roads in Bolivia that far surpass the danger though they...More
I am writing this review for Barro Biking, which I thought did a great job, with two minor exceptions: 1) They make you pose for way too many pictures! So corny! Who wants a CD of photos anyway? 2) The time at the end at...More
Was an insane experience, despite it tripping down the entire day and getting very muddy. Barrow biking was great, really good food, picked us up on time, and the guides were great.
Not sure what the other review is about not getting a dvd, we...More
We took our dead road tour on 11.05. 2018. It was only me, my husband, guide and driver. The guide was taking care of us, taking pictures, videos, he was very nice. When something happened with the bikes, he just changed it for the new...More
I looked at a few different companies and various reviews.
All things considered I decided to do the ‘passenger option’ with gravity assist and I was not disappointed. The scenery was spectacular, the driving safe and overall it was a highlight of my time in...More
Yungas Road was the highlight of my trip to Bolivia. The sights were amazing throughout the bike ride. Probably only advisable for those who are in good physical condition. You can take your time biking down, but the terrain is challenging no matter how fast...More

I did it in August on my 60th birthday. I DO cycle a bit and didn't find it too taxing as its all down hill. Hands are bound to get tired from all the vibration. I got a private ride back up a different road as I came off my bike 3/4 of the way down and broke my collarbone.😎 I would suggest getting some bike gloves to help hands and looking into meds for altitude. Great trip and I'd do it again although a little slower
Good question re your "kids", but how old are they? The descent is steep and the rough road adds to the danger. There are no guard rails! As an elementary teacher 35 years experience, I would be very hesitant about taking... More
Good question re your "kids", but how old are they? The descent is steep and the rough road adds to the danger. There are no guard rails! As an elementary teacher 35 years experience, I would be very hesitant about taking children under 12 to this location, unless under very close supervision. And remember, medical care in Bolivia can sometimes be very poor! Despite all of that, I loved it!!
