I visited Punta del Este, twice, while on largely fabulous Oceania Cruise lines trips from Buenos Aires to Rio. Punta del Este, to my mind, is a run-of-the mill generic resort, so going there was not a highlight of the trip, to say the least....More

One of the most easily recognisable monuments or sculptures in Uruguay and synonymous with Punta del Este Very popular at any time of the day and don't expect to get a photograph of yourself only in the frame! The sculpture by a Chilean artist Mario...More

Typical view of Punta del Este. The monument is on the beach. It consists of five giant fingers getting out from the sand. All the tourists go there. So, so.

The "hand in the sand" is a nice diversion at one of the town's many beaches. Snack bars and a very busy street nearby. Fun to see if you're at the beach anyway, but not worth a special trip.

I was surprised by the diversity and depth of art and culture in this place. The fingers are certainly with visiting. Th best way is to include this on a day tour in order to fit in all the other great art in this place.

What can you say, all it really is is fingers in the sand. The biggest stands about 10 feet in the air, the smallest - children climb all over.

You cannot visit Punta and not also visit the Mano de Punta del Este. It's so cool and fun to see it in person. You can walk right up to it and take a photo. It's right on the beach, so you can make a...More

I liked Mano extremely ...! So different from other monuments and perfectly blended into space. I like when some landmark imposes on with its diversity and becomes a kind of trademark for a place or city. Take just a couple of minutes and stop for...More
