The museum was closed when we visited, but we walked in the sculpture garden, which is amazing!
Every piece of art is superb and displayed beautifully, so you pleasantly walk around and beyond each sculpture while enjoying the outdoors. The little lake/ pond and the tree area create a perfect landscape for the art displayed in each of them.

There is enough space so nothing is crammed.
We will go back for the museum. It was a wonderful experience!

It was a great success to go to see this museum. Just for the land it has and the beautiful park that surrounds the main building of the museum, it is worth it. The park is a work of art in itself because it houses a large number of sculptures by different artists, as well as sculptures by Pablo Atchugarry himself.
We didn't have much time so we didn't get to the end of the park, but allow a minimum of 2 hours for this visit.
It has free parking.

Must admit modern art is not our first choice for art but we really enjoyed the sculpture garden and the architecture of the museum itself. This is a very peaceful setting. The facility is wheelchair accessible although some paths are a very flat/flush cobblestone. The museum is free

Interesting

Open-air contemporary art museum with a headquarters and spaces that are very interesting for their innovative architecture. The seat is shaped like a boat. In the small chapel there is an impressive sculpture of Mary and Christ. Works by different artists. I recommend.

We visited today and enjoyed the artist’s work and the lovely park. As always, some of the other artist’s works weren’t to our taste, but that’s art. The place is a bit disorganised, but I guess that’s art too.

I live in Punta, yet I never tire of visiting the Fundacion. Pablo Atchugarry is Uruguay's greatest living artist, and a wonderful person. The Fundacion is intended to showcase the works of other artists, as part of Pablo's desire to help young artists, and those just getting started. His own works are at the back of the property, in the third building. Also throughout the summer season, there are concerts and events almost every weekend. The location is about 10 minutes past La Barra, and very easy to find.

While this is mainly the art of Pablo Atchugarry, it also includes many other artists. The setting is a magnificient garden plus two museum buildings. If you are lucky you'll even get to meet Pablo as we did. If you are interested in sculpture this is a can't miss.

This is the place if you want to escape from the (crowded) beaches and bars and enjoy a quiet afternoon, walking around a large space, very well kept and with some interesting sculptures and installations.

The artwork is stunning but the real draw are the grounds. A large ranch has been made over to showcase contemporary art. Off the beaten path, but well worth the drive to see.
