Interesting (and free) museum detailing the creation and history of Abu Dhabi. Small but there's quite a bit to take in. Only for those who want to learn more about the area, not for families! More family friendly events take place during the related local festival held in February.

This centre is on the Big Bus route and is most interesting and the whole area comes to life for 10 days in February for the Abu Dhabi Festival when local history is on display.

We went to the Qasr Al Hosn exhibition today. The museum is very well laid out and informative. It starts with a video of elders remembering earlier life in the region. The exhibits detail the life of the Bani Yas, the indigenous tribe of the area and their life and customs in the desert. Admission is free and it's worth... More

I've been to the Qasr Al Hosn Fort so many times that I've lost count. The place is a little history trove to all those who love a look into the past of U.A.E. Traditionally this fort was the living quarters of the ruling family in the past and the many nuggets that are here give a lot of insight... More

The actual for is currently not accessible, can catch a quick partial glimpse of the exteriors though. The exhibition center is open and free. Not really big, but does talk about the monument and Abu Dhabi history. the is a video presentation of the testimonials from original locals. Few artifacts as well, showing how they managed to do things in... More

The Qasr Al Hosn is located close to the World Trade Centre and is inaccessible as it is currenlty being restored. Follow your way around the boarding and you will find an excellent modern building which houses an exhibition explaining the history of the Qasr Al Hosn. A video with locals telling their story of the changes in Abu Dhabi... More

Incidentally every year my trip to UAE coincides with Qasr-al-hosn festival. 20dhs ticket for whole event. And an interesting and unexpected introduction to UAE culture

The fort was built between 1761 – 1793 at the order of Sheikh Dhiyab Bin Isaa and was originally meant to protect a water source discovered in Abu Dhabi Island. The conical tower and the fort built later on to encompass it evolved into a powerful structure that protected and served the whole community along the years. The Arabian Gulf... More
