The souk is frequented by both residents and tourists alike and is a very comfortable place to get an insight to life in Doha before the discovery of oil and haute couture. The souk is still a working market which adds to it's interest and the cultural diversity. Many restaurants and coffee/tea shops available so plan to take your time... More

We visited here as part of a Qatar Tourism tour. Only had 45 minutes to walk around which was not enough. Lots to see here. Also, I was really impressed at how cool it was inside the market. The construction kept it naturally cool. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Doha.

I love this place. It's so nice to eat and people watch here.Better than being in the sterile, 5 star hotels. Some great restaurants and entertainment. The horses are worth seeing and for those who like Falcons, the falcon souk is interesting.

Definitely worth visiting. Vibrant and fun. We arrived just before 6 and it was starting to get busy. Lots of stalls, many selling quite everyday items which was good because the place is not just full of tourists. Some beautiful pearls and some nice Indian/Arabic style gold stores. Good place to get cheap scarfs.

We visited on Friday, it was too crowded, but planty of parkings. Very nice traditional design and walking sikkas. You will find traditional and new staff in the market, including animal market, falcon, camel and horses. If you are in Qatar, must visit the place and try their traditional foods in one of the teaditional caffes.

Though rebuilt, the souk beats the rest-- in my mind even the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul--for variety and local color. Here something for everyone: from spice to gold to carpet to birds. More birds than you've ever seen in any market.
