It has bullet holes which is cool, but the area is pretty dilapidated and would benefit from a descriptive plaque.

This square used to be the beating heart of Beirut but only nostalgia can explain it is recommended on this site. The statue is interesting but the surroundings are not

somewhat classic - except for the bullet holes - by itself not really worth the trip but some excellent architecture in the area -

Even thou this place represents something special, there is no maintenance around the statue and it doesn't look good. It is located in the downtown area with a Very beautiful Mosque next to it as well as a wonderful Church worth to see.

A short visit will be enough to check the statue, you need to check the history to understand the value.

How many died in this area during the Lebanese civil war. I wish the city planners would make the effort to do something in this area of Beirut

It was inaccessible except from a distance. Good luck trying to get across 5 lanes of traffic without a cross walk or traffic light to help you access it. The statue was almost blocked from view by piles of dirt for the construction of mew...More
