Gemmayzeh Street is a hub of activity and very popular with younger people. I find it a bit disappointing. I'd like shops and cultural richness rather than pubs and places of nighttime entertainment. It is not Soho, but it is worth a wander. Of course, if you want life after 10.00 p.m., it is amazing.

Honestly the best place to get lost in the streets and discover the real and raw and fun side of beirut! I saw a lot of great cafes and restaurants and it’s really a great place to visit whenever you go to Beirut!

During the day it's time to get your hipster on, with cool cafe and shops. At night all the bars open up, just as hip. Just walk around enjoy the different bars, people are not drunk so it feels safe. The bars can get very busy but still easy to find a spot to get in and order drinks.
Most of the bars close at 2 pm.

It doesn't matter if you like loud music, classic ambiance, modern couches or standing up in a bar, Gemmayzeh has it all.
It is a street full of bars, pubs and restaurants where it is FULLY LOADED all weekdays and weekends.

Nice place to explore bars in Beirut . You’ll find many little pubs to have a drink. Unsure about the parties here I didn’t see any clubs or parties but we walked past many little street pubs which looked cute and cozy

well i lived in beyrouth achrafieh for 22 years before leaving lebanon, so i really know the place.

In Beirut there is one main street called Gemmayzeh Street and is a neighborhood that is described by some as the "Greenwich Village" or "Soho" areas of Beirut. This Gemmayzeh Street is both a residential and commercial neighborhood that has become as one of Beirut's trendiest districts. It is in the Achrafieh district of Beirut it is considered by some as: Beirut's artistic bohemian quarter. This old district is full of narrow streets; alleyways; long staircases and beautiful historic buildings.
I think on our last vacation to Beirut we walked and strolled along Gemmayzeh Street and the other smaller streets at least six times during our nine day vacation. We enjoyed two exceptional lunches during our time exploring this special neighborhood of Beirut!
When you are in Beirut you must visit this Gemmayzeh Street you will not be disappointed.
Finally, in my humble opinion there is only one downside in visiting this trendy district…there is very limited street side parking! So during most of our visits we simple took a taxi to Gemmayzeh Street from our hotel. It really saved a lot of headaches!

Stayed in a hostel in this area, very chic neighborhood filled with many restaurants and bars. Walking distance from the new large mosque built in Lebanon. Highly recommend spending a night here with friends
