It is very informative about Oil and the history about how the oil industry started in Bahrain. You can enjoy the ride of almost 40km from Manama.

Here the first oil in the Arabic Gulf was found on-land in the years 1931 to 1932. Unfortenatuly, the Museum was closed, although it was visited on a Friday, and supposed to be open.

We went on a Monday to have a look and it was closed, it was our fault for not checking but just to be aware to make sure you do.
I do have to say that the surrounding areas are interesting to see because of how vast the fields are. Seeing the machinery in action is also quite fascinating so it's good for a drive out to see something different.
Whatever you do, don''t go with a half empty tank of petrol, it's quite easy to get on to a wrong road.

Great museum dedicated to the theme of oil, its search, discovery and development in Bahrain, and its impact on the life of the Bahraini People.
It seeks to tell a story - that of Bahrain’s transformation from a 'pearl state' to an 'oil state'.
It also traces how a search for drinking water led to a search for oil.
Highly recommended, but best to go with an organised tour, as it is normally closed, even when the signboard says it's supposed to be open.

The museum was very closed when I got there, not sure if it was just closed on the day I was there, but the entrance was blocked off.
Based on this, I saw the drill bits outside and the first well next door. Not worth a drive in itself, but combined with the tree and the race track it makes for an interesting drive through the gas fields.

visiting the OM will give you a wholistic view of the history of oil in Bahrain from day one that the first oil well has been struck todade. you will be ablle to see all kind of material used and very old photos of the wells and administration offices etc... I stronglly recommend you to visit.

I bumped into this museum just by chance. Although it's not a big one but the information there was really stunning even for me a Bahraini. It'll give you a glimpse of how Bahrain was and how it changed after the oil.

It was open today when I went but there were about 5 tour buses going through so don't know if was open special. It's small but if you're going to the Tree of Life it's only about 5 minutes away and about 15 minutes from the International circuit. If nothing else the drive around the area is very interesting, right in the hear of oil country!

The museum is small but it house interesting items; mineral samples, old documents from the times when first oil discoveries in Bahrain were made and some ancient and modern equipment. Next to the building they are working oil wells.
