interesting story

The tree of life has an interesting story, as there is no obvious water source. Good tourist spot and interpretive center.

Tree of life is a waste of time however there are activities local to it which make it worth while which are not advertised anywhere. Quad biking for 4bhd. Kids camel, pony, horse riding 1bhd each. Other stuff for kids to do.

We were motorcycling the other day and decided to head south to Durat a luxury resort and took the oilfield road past the golf course and past the oil company headquarters and headed for the tree of life . Plenty of winter tents gone up . Followed the signs and was basically underwhelmed . There stood a tree . A... More

This is an interesting place about a half hour from Manama it is a huge tree in the middle of nowhere that is very old and grows in the desert as a result of an underground river. Lots of people there and the camps around it made it busy this time of year with traffic etc.

Directional signs for traffic to find their way to the tree have been greatly improved. Once you reach the site you will discover that there have been improvements and the perimeter now has a concrete walkway and steps leading to the tree. Its disappointing that some people think its ok to engrave their name on the tree. Apart from that... More

It is an interesting place, but do not expect more than a tree in the middle of the desert. It's worth the trip only if you don't have anything else better to do or if you wish to know the Bahrani countryside, as the tree is located far south.

So it is a large tree in the dessert. There's not really anything else to see or do out there and it takes a bit to drive there. It's interesting that it's such a large tree and could be a photo op. Whether it is worth it to you to make this detour will be a personal decision.
