Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not a pleasant experience at all. Cars everywhere, shops full of tat or aimed at Local Indian population. We were looking for small gifts based on Middle East to take back to the UK and couldn’t find anything until we came across the Mall which had reasonably priced souvenirs plus was air conditioned. Also delicious ice cream and friendly service in cafe area.

A trip to Bahrain is incomplete without a visit to the Bab el-Bahrain Souk. Its a mix of of old souk alleyways and newer lanes. Its a great place to pick up a souvenir, a bite to eat or even some gold. The place comes to life in the evening, making it a great place to experience the local way of lie.

As I'm much more into food markets, I didn't buy anything at this place. It specializes more into gold, hanging glass lamps, souvenirs and material things. I still liked the decorations hanging from the ceiling and the artistic shops worth of some pictures.
The street is not that long and if you don't make stops, you will walk through it in few minutes.

It is a traditional souq where you can get almost everything you want. There are snack outlets, traditional souvenir shops and some modern stores as well. The street is very narrow and constantly clogged with vehicles. Watch your step as you navigate the high but narrow pedestrian paths..

This was my second time coming back to the Souk. I love the history and the variety of shops here. We bought some of the famous high-quality Bahraini gold jewelry here. The bartering for everything from gold to scarves is part of the fun. The sights, sounds and scents of the Souk are unique and should not be missed.
As an aside, I accidentally dropped some money from my pocket on the ground at the Souk, and a man came running after me to return the cash. Wonderful!

Quick visit only needed to this souq. Maze of streets . Bought shawl for 5euro - no shifting in price for anything I tried to buy . Nice enough atmosphere- no hassle from vendors . Would give it a 3.5 if I could have

Interesting place to explore, with street after street of shops selling everything you can imagine, but mainly clothes/cloth and gold. I particularly enjoyed walking around the gold souq building. The Bab El-Bahrain gate being the highlight and start /end of my route. Well worth a look around.

A vibrant & busy place, with plenty of shopping options available, from jewellery to souvenirs, to clothing & accessories, to street food... there is just EVERYTHING here.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere, quite relaxed & safe.

Not a bad place to pick up magnets and tourists gifts. More of a local market for the day to day essentials. Only one small area that has a nice souq feel. I would go in the evening time to enjoy the local life.

Old style shopping area and definitely the place to find some good souvenirs. I collect fridge magnets from the places I’ve been to and this was the first place I saw them. Obviously other souvenirs available. Quite a few jewellery shops if you want something a bit more special and high quality. And of course carpets, rugs and cushions with beautiful colourful designs. Busy area with lots going on and good atmosphere. Good vibe and felt safe. Opposite the financial area so good to visit both while around here.

It is a great area for shopping (many vendors). Very good prices, and they are willing to negotiate price on most products.

Thanks for the review. Do did you go before or during Ramadan? I was wondering if this was open this week. I'm in the Muharraq area and everything around here is closed. Appreciate any areas to see this week through Sat(Jun27).
Thank you!

The market whether in muharruq or manama or even hamad town during ramadan time, would close around 4 in the evening and open again at 8.30 or 9 pm if im not wrong.
