The citadel is definitely one of the most striking parts of this unique city. It is simply impossible to count the depth of history of this place and this country, which has been the fulcrum of the legendary civilizations of the past. The ones interested in history of the civilization as well as the sightseers, beautiful views searchers, or just... More

This place I loved because you can see the contrast between the ruins and the city of Amman which surrounds this place. Here you can see a beautiful view of the city of Amman.

The Citadel was beautiful and had some great vows of Amman, but it's a shame the government and UNESCO haven't made better attempts to preserve this site which is over 4000 years old. In comparison to the Kings (state of the art) automotive museum, a lot of these amazing archeological sites are overrun by Bedouin gypsies and trash and the... More

Standing at the edge of the property that makes up the Citadel, you look down onto the Roman amphitheater and busy City Center marketplace. Its easy to see why rulers made this their home and to get a sense of the blending of centuries around every corner of Amman. Walk among the excavated remains of palace and commoner households and... The citadel is perched high on the hill side with roman ruins as well as a museum and a holding area for trade that has been restored. The museum does have some interesting artifacts but the best part of it, is being to look back over the city for the views. You can see the theatre nestled amongst all the... More

You did not see Amman if you did not go up to the citadel.... Feel the pulse of an oriental city...hear the sounds and smell the scents of Arabia ...from up there you get it all... A 360 round view of the whole of the capital with special view down to the amphitheatre will leave an impression that you will... More

The site is always breathtaking and being improved. The museum needs attention as the most important artifacts are no longer on display???

The Citadel is positioned majestically on a height overlooking the city. One good vantage point of the Citadel is Wild Jordan. Since my previous visit 15 years ago a lot of good work has been done in presenting the site. Multilingual guides are available and are recommended if you are to get the most of the visit. There's a wealth... More

I have been flying over this site for a number of years and hoped to get a day off to go visit this historic site. Contrary to a lot of other places in Amman, there is a parking lot. Getting there is not easy as there doesn't appear to be a lot of printed maps from any city or tourism... More
