Well preserved and worth a visit. The palace behind the museum is a gem. It is often ignored as visitors usually go around the ruins of the temple of Hercules. By the way don't miss the giant hand of Hercules ! You needn't take a guide as the ruins are well sign posted. They do pester you though. The museum... More

The Citadel is a must see historical monument. Enjoy the remains of the old Hercules temple along with astonishingly beautiful views of Amman which can provide beautiful photo shots for your memories, try the selfie with the Roman Theatre downwards. Also go to the museum which has valuable articrafts dating from the Romans time until the 20th century.

The ruins of the roman temple of Hercules (1AD), side-by-side to historic Ummayyad mosque, built 660AD, the museum that housed a great collection of artifacts from the area, with the background... Amazing views, so much to see and walk around the site. Its beautiful, take your time go up there, we spent a good 2-3 hours, timed it so we saw the sunset too. There is a museum up there an old abbayid mosque and the roman ruins. Amazing and can be walked up to from downtown in about 20-30 minutes.... More

The views from the citadel are great. You can see the theatre, mosque and downtown from above. It has some information signs, so a guide would probably not be necessary here. The ruins are worth strolling around, espevially the gate and the watern cistern. The museum is old and has quite a lot of artefacts, but you will see similar... More
