We went to the Citadel while Jordan was closed to tourism so our experience will be different from others. It was, unsurprisingly, empty. The main attraction of the citadel are the columns set on the hilltop and easily seen from many parts of the city. While impressive and a perfect photo op, the Umayyad Palace a bit further in was where we spent the majority of our time. However, the best reason to visit the Citadel are the views. They really are some of the best in the city and if you can visit just as Friday prayers are getting out, you’ll be able to hear all the mosques while taking in sunny views of the city. Just make sure you get out quickly before the traffic! Side note: the “Hercules” hand is underwhelming, but across from the museum if you really want to see it.…

Amazing place .. its a must to visit it when you come to amman .. very well taken care off .. clean . Open area.. fresh air .. nice backgrounds to have selfies and memories

Nice to leave the hustle of downtown Amman and see the city from above. The ancien temple complex is together with the theatre on of the main roman sites in Amman. Well worth a visit!
