This was a great place to visit and see history. Although there were millions of ants everywhere! Besides that it was great to see the giant pillars. There are great views of Amman from up here as well. If you are visiting Amman I would recommend doing this and then walk over to the theater and then from there you... More

The citadel is Roman temple and it's at the middle of amman, from this place you can see different ages of amman. from 2000 years old ( Roman Amphitheater ) to the modern under construction building.

A great historical site inside Amman. Of course when you are in the town, it's a must visit. Lots of history behind this place.

We wanted to squeeze one thing in before leaving. We got there at opening 8:00 am and paid 3JDS each (Baby was free). We were offered a guide right away but we didn't have much time so we declined. You can walk the citadel and the temple of Hercules easily. A stroller could manage here but we had a baby... More

We got a taxi from our hotel to the Citadel and arrived early in the morning before the crowds arrived. It was a Friday morning so quieter than usual. We spent just a couple of hours enjoying the view over the Roman Theatre and wandering around the site.

We choose 4 places to visit while on a business trip in Amman as we only had two half days free. We choose Jordan river, dead sea, Petra and the Citadel.

I spent there good half day. If it's possible, take a guide, they tell a lot of stories, give you a lot of information and you will understand Jordan better.

This was worth seeing, but it is not as nice as Jerash. If you have to choose, choose Jerash. If you can see both, see this one first, so it seems more spectacular.
