Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I walked past this mosque on several occasions but i believe that only muslims can enter so i did not try. At prayer times believers came from all directions and you could catch a glimpse of them through the door practicing their faith. Outside the mosque there s a bookstore that sells all types of religious books. They have English versions of the Koran for 10 JD should anyone want to learn more about the religion.

We visited the mosque while looking around the old town. We were respectfully dressed and it was outside of prayer time. A local shopkeeper took us to the door (as it was not obvious which one) but a male cleaner inside began shouting and yelling at us even as we approached. The local man then got into a massive argument with him trying to persuade him to let at least my husband in but no.... we left them going at it hammer and tongs. Take my advice and give this a big miss. A very poor impression given to visitors.

From my hotel, I walked along the main street just to feel the ambience of the neighborhood. There are shops and stores selling clothings, shoes, spices, sweets, etc around here.
I noted this big mosque along the way and asked a store owner about its name. Learned from him that it is NOT open to tourists, particularly Non-muslims. I just took its pictures from outside and wondered how it looks i side.

Big and crowded place
It is located near the Roman amphitheater, easy to reach.
Women only have access to the floor in a mosque attic room. They can look down into the heart of the mosque on gems covered with drapes.

I walked around the mosque and eventhough it was not prayer time I did not go in but glanced from the door. I saw a couple of tourists go in with the girl fully covered and accessing from the door for women; they had no issues as i saw in other reviews.
Looks nice from the outside and not much on the inside for what I could see.

If you are women you are allowed to enter the Mosque in the women's section, even if you are not Muslim. Although most don't speak english, the women were very friendly and it is very interesting

The mosque is in the middle of downtown Amman, and it is busy throughout the day. It would be a great opportunity to pass by walking and feel the atmosphere near it. It is definitely different. The Mosque is also powered by Solar PV to cover about two thirds of their annual electricity requirements.
