Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Viewing the photographs of the country in the early 1900's will help you understand what the country might have looked like during the Second Century and time of Christ. After years of directing university students group to Jerusalem, it was a joy to find the small shop in the Christian Quarter with beautiful photographs.

This small shop run by George Kahvedjian, the grandson of a survivor of the Armenian holocaust has beautiful, evocative photographs of old Jerusalem. It was special to speak with him and hear about a slice of a bygone time.

I heard about Elia Photo Service from a couple different Youtube sources and from a National Geographic program.
I purchased three gorgeous photos, two as gifts and one for myself.
They provide handy little tubes to transport them safely home in your luggage.
I highly recommend this place!

The owner's grandfather begun photographing places in Israel before WWII. The photos reflects nicely the era and the people.
Recommended during a walk in the old city.

This shop is a must visit for anyone that's interested in the history of Jerusalem. Not only does the grandson of Elia (who now runs the shop since his father passed away) know pretty much everything that there is to know about the city, the pictures are absolutely one of a kind and shows the history of the city in a way no others do.
Definitely going back (once I have more wall space for pictures!!)

This is the shop if a photographer, and one with a great archive and an interesting story. But if you are a tourist visiting the Old City and willing to buy a memory of your visit which is not fake, is easy to pack and of value, Elia's pictures are what you are looking for. His archive is a true time machine to the past of this place.

Excellent shop for old time Jerusalem photographs. Greta souvenirs for your trip. George the owner is extremely gracious and friendly. Bought couple of photographs for 210 shekels. I cut and paste below from another site.
George Kahvedjian is the son of legendary Armenian photographer Elia Kahvedjian who beginning in 1924 documented the history of Jerusalem through the lens of his camera. In the shop you can acquire a wide range of rare historical photographs of the Old City from before the Six Day War in 1967. His photographs capture individuals in the midst of prayer, pilgrims, Old City vendors, moments of co-existence and the streets and alleys of Jerusalem. George’s book, ‘Jerusalem Through My Father’s Eyes’ can be purchased as well.

Elia Photo service is a Jerusalem institution. After you visit, you will notice that many of the photos from the shop adorn restaurants and hotels in the Old City. You will want to buy a photo, but even if you don't, to browse the photos is a tour through the history of Jerusalem from the Ottoman and Mandate eras. The owner is entirely professional, knowledgeable, and polite.
