We loved this activity and would highly recommend it. But finding the location was not fun. The instructions we received by email were in Hebrew. The instructions on the website are not for the sifting location. When we called we got a lot of confusing...More

The Sifting is not currently active. We are not related to the Ir-David foundation anymore, who continue to operate the site with sifting material from other sites. We have no control on the directions they give to the sifting site at Tzurim Valley. We hope...More

This is a great place to go with families or on your own. The project sifts through dirt recovered from the illegal excavation on the Temple Mount. Thousands of important artifacts have been recovered which help us understand the history of the holiest site in...More

It should be illegal, having this much fun. After a short but very informative and entertaining introductory lesson from professional archaeologists, and a demonstration of the wet sifting technique, you're set loose to sort this sacred soil on your own, but with expert supervision. The...More

We'd heard of this from friends who made two visits when they were recently in Jerusalem. And, having done it, I can see why they went back. You have a 20-30 minute talk from an archaeologist covering the history of the Mount and the techniques...More

We had a great morning out at the sifting project. Very well organised on site. Appreciated the thorough introduction. Our kids, aged 8-15, loved the actual sifting, as did the adults. Was exciting to uncover bits of ancient and modern history. Would have appreciated better...More

This is a very interesting and real activity, not kitchy or touristy. You will find some very interesting artifacts from the Temple Mount, that were discarded in the tailings of illegal digging on Har Ha Bayit. Highly recommended for a family.
