A tourist trap, a shopper's paradise, and an all but obligatory part of visiting Jerusalem. The perfect gift or souvenir is in there somewhere if you're willing to look hard enough. Be prepared to haggle, which is part of the experience.

There are several areas within the Muslim Quarter where you can find souk and bazaar market scenes. A souk also referred to as the Three Markets or Covered Markets can be found running north of Cardo. This is where you find garden variety souk shops...More

Yes it is authentic bazaar with a wide variety of items. Jewelry, food, clothing, souvenirs, ect. The whole haggling experience. Like buying a car on a small scale. Annoying. The bad experience was a vendor accused my daughter of stealing some trinket. My daughter and her...More

An ancient authentic oriental bazaar. My feelings were mixed as there where goats and sheep hanging in glass cabinets next to the jewelry stores where everything shines with gold (somehow unhygienic). Also, in between are bakeries where delicious oriental pastries and sweets are being sold...More

I'm not huge fan of this kind of markets, since most of them have become in tourist oriented, selling low quality souvenirs. It's funny since most of the local won't visit it anymore. But, if you want to eat a snack it can be a...More

It is a great way to spend some time wandering through the souk, so many shops selling many different things, the food and spice shops are particularly interesting. We started from Damascus gate and left at new gate where there are also some good cafes...More

As intriguing, chaotic, smelly etc as any good arab market could be. Not a good place for actual shopping, but nevertheless worth visiting. You would probably have to walk through it to get to some of the major old Jerusalem tourist attractions.
