Located in the Old City’s Muslim Quarter, this is the world’s third holiest shrine to Muslims (after the Kaaba in Mecca and the Tomb of the Propher in Medina), which signifies the spot where the Prophet Muhammad is believed to have ascended into Heaven.

We didn't go inside ....it was a nice building but I am sorry it is in the spot it is in.....the temple mount should ONLY be for the Temple of the one and only God. He'll restore his temple one day.

Never carry a Bible when touring this site. Be prepared for some rudeness but generally safe. May or may not be able to enter the dome.

I gather from reading other reviews that there is an entrance where non Muslims are permitted to enter. Our tour didn't go by that entrance and we were already covering a lot of ground so I didn't think to ask for an alternative entrance. However,...More
