The jewish Guards would not let us in the Area at all. They said it was only open to non-muslims on Sundays, so we did not even get to see the building from outside.

The site is only open during very specific times. In summer time Mon-Thurs 8.30am -11.30am and 1.30pm-2.30pm Closed on Friday-Saturday. It can be closed without notice even when it's scheduled to be open. Non-Muslim visitors... More

I took a little gorilla pod (a small tripod for my phone) and it was taken by security at the checkpoint. No problem though, I just picked it up later.

Selfie sticks are forbidden so I would guess a tripod is also forbidden. It can be used as a weapon.
