This unfortunately was a place we were "rushed" through because we needed to get to another site before they close it to the public. Had that been communicated to us, my room mate who was having difficulties walking on this trip might have stayed on the bus. Or since the bus was moved to pick us up at the gates of Jeroboam, could have ridden in the bus and seen the sight, without having to rush to keep up with our guide. It was a source of frustration and a pity, because the area with the rushing waters and lush area along with historic ancient city of Dan would have been a wonderful treat. It is one of the drawbacks of an organized tour, you do not get to spend time in places you might want to linger. So to be clear "my experience" was average, the place is better than that rating.

Tel Dan Nature Park has it all: beautiful trails for visitors, with the main tributary of the Jordan River, the Dan, as well as small streams, some of which go into and out of the ground. Beautiful plane trees create a surreal feel here. There are also huge pistachio trees here. Special attention deserves the archaeological part of the ancient city of Dan and the triple gates of the Hanan period. This place is perfect for families with children and for large groups. Enough space for everyone.

So many attractions here at Tel Dan. The Wading Pool, The Pistachio lookout, The Pooh Bear Tree, Leshem Spring, Dan Spring, The Canaanite gate and the Israelite gate among other things. There is a short trail(flour mill and wading pool one hour) and a longer trail 1 1/2 hours..Dan Springs.
Worth seeing!

OMG!! Such a beautiful hike! Easy and full of water everywhere.
We we two couples with two toddlers (3 years old) and we had blast! Most of the road is cover with trees so you can hike there in the warmer hours of the day without any problems.
Also there a small lakes in the middle that kids can go inside.

It’s a wonderful time to visit this park. The water is flowing and the pool near the end of the path is refreshing. The trail has wonderful views of nature and was well liked by family members of all ages.
People with disabilities should note that there is a special trail for you, the other paths are not suitable for people in wheelchair but passable for people using hand canes or walking sticks.

Our guide brought us to Tel Dan for a "nature walk". Beautiful forest with a flowing stream AND incredible history with archaeologic remnants of a palace, town and possibly a temple built to mimic the great First Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem. Should not be missed on any guided tour of northern Israel

The name is Banias or known as Caesarea Philippi. Greco-Roman city located near a flowing spring - one of the sources of the Jordan river. The walk can be tiring, especially at the beginning of July that is super hot but worth it, because it is simply fascinating, do not forget to bring hat and water. Full of archaeological excavations. Within the city area the remains of Agrippa's palace, The Sanctuary of Pan, the Cardo, The Crusaders Banias city, a bath-house and the Byzantine-period synagogue.

There are very few places in the world that combine amazing natural scenery with important cultural artifacts (Petra, Mesa Verde and Fallingwater come to mind) -- but Tel Dan belongs in this select group and is absolutely NOT TO BE MISSED in a visit to the Galilee. On the one hand, the source of the Dan (which becomes the Jordan) offers easy walking paths and beautiful flowing COLD water even on the hottest days with plenty of shade. The only downside is that this section is often crowded with groups and enjoying the nature can be difficult amid the screaming teenagers. The archeological park is well marked and well maintained. Both the Cannanite and Israelite gates are impressive and important structures, but the star is clearly the pagan altar. Where else can you actually touch a monument mentioned in the Bible!

This is a national park and as such it is one of the few ones where you can actually walk in the clear water that create the Jordan river. It is a great hike for families (no strollers), couples, and all nature enthusiasts.

These ruins in Northern Israel, in the Golan Heights region, were more than we expected. We arrived at 4:15 or so, and missed the last entrance time, since the site closed at 5pm. What we saw from the road made us decide to drive all the way back the next day, and we're so glad we did! The Canaanite gate, made of mud brick, is almost perfectly preserved. Incredible for something so old. The huge Israelite wall and gate, believed to be built by King Jeroboam, was also in good condition and very impressive. I'm surprised I hadn't heard/read more about these ruins. Perhaps it's because they've only been excavated fairly recently. It appears that tourists on a tour just arrive and see the gates. But we hiked back to the sacrificial high place, which was also incredible. The same altar stones were in use for hundreds of years. Different groups just remodeled the site a little. This "cultic site" was probably built by Ahab, or another Israelite King of the Northern Kingdom. We felt like we were transported back in time. Be aware that this a a nature reserve and you must hike around to see the sites. It was not a problem for us, but it requires more time and would be difficult for a person with mobility issues.

IF you decide to walk ALL the different trails, you will need a few hours but if you just do the main trail, it will take you a good 3/4 of an hour, especially if you have a guide that knows all the history dating back to the original Tribe of Dan.

Yes as it's full of rocks and not very comfortable on the feet.
