The Church of the Nativity can seem to have a rather circus-like atmosphere. It has been under renovation for several years, and it appears it will continue for several more. Since practically everyone in Christendom ( Greek Orthodox, Armenian Orthodox and the Franciscan order of the Roman Catholic Church ) stakes claim to the location, there is much todo about... More

By all means, go into Palestinian and see the Church of the Nativity. Very safe and a different experience from the Old City. Wonderful story of Christ and the Church is being rebuilt. Everyone in Christianity claims the church, interesting how they divide up time to pray. A must see.

It has the potential to be a spectacular experience but if you're going anywhere near a holiday, be prepared for overcrowding, pushing, shoving and disorganization.

All the while I thought the altar is magnificent and ornate but, when we reached there, I can't take the magnificence in its entirety due to steel bars erected at the very front. It's undergoing renovation; however, there's a descent to the birthplace of Jesus. Here, there's a sense of holiness and sacredness that makes you feel touched. It is... More

Where you can see the Star of Bethlehem where Jesus was born, and the manager where he was laid by Mary. It's through a small tight space that you go through. It's carved out of a cave, and you go up the other way. There is a long wait to go down. Once you are out, you get to go... More

The people of Bethlehem were very friendly. The church has a lot of history so you better have a guide to tell you what to expect. Significant accumulation of artifatact over the centuries.

We had a very knowledgeable guide - a lady who is one of the few local Christian Arabs. Most left the city and the trend continues but she is a local expert and in love with her hometown. It is indeed a shame we did not get to see the Church of Nativity in its full glory but instead with... More

The Chuch of the Nativity seems to be a beautiful place with a lot of impressive pictures and things. Unfortuantely it is under construction under December 2017, so it is duifficult to experience the whole beauty of it. However, if you are in Bethlehen, a must-see!
