Beautiful Cathedral and worth the visit. Pleasant, peaceful, tranquil, behind an iron gate and worth a visit.

Coming from Europe you will not find anything special from architecture point of view. definitely very pleasant place within very busy Istiklal area for little rest and thoughts.

As you walk down Istiklal street on your left hand the Cathedral is something worth seeing, it will only take 20 minutes of your time.

Tucked away behind a gate on one of the busiest streets in Istanbul but it's worth finding and visiting. Very peaceful and quiet.

St Anthony and its surrounding buildings (especially the entrance building) give you the taste of Italy in Istanbul. A moment of peace can be enjoyed here, among the typical kitsch of Roman-Catholic churches I can say so, I'm Catholic), especially kitschy at X-Mas. Many Turks come here and burn a candle too

An amazing peaceful surroundings and then you take your first step and enter the church and the aura of the atmosphere takes a hold of you...sensational feeling... an experience one can never forget.

Turks are tolerant because I have not destroyed this church and this historical work. I would like to thank the people of Turkey and Turkish people. You can make a wonderful church worship.

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
