Walkabout Travel agent, Bulent Kara, was fantastic. His English is great which is very helpful when you want to make several different plans. He arranged a hotel (Golden Horn - don't go) for two nights which wasn't a great hotel but when we went back to him to complain about it he called the hotel and arranged for a nicer... More

We were walking along in historic Sultanahmet, by the great Hagia Sophia, and came upon this travel agency to book a self-guided tour with the hopes of seeing the most of Turkey in a limited amount of time. As we entered, we were welcomed by one of the most sweet-spirited people I have ever met - and believe me, I... More

A friend living in Turkey took me to this agency as she had dealt with them before. We wanted a trip to Ephesus, Pammakalie and Cappadocia, wanted to fly there but back to SAW, wanted the cheapest but best value. Ezra whipped up a custom trip in no time....just the 900 euros was a bit scary!! I am a well... More

We used Walkabout Travel to book a day tour of Ephesus. While the staff was professional and the process of getting everything organized was in Istanbul was seamless, the issues started when we finally arrived in Izmir. Firstly, the charter bus for the tour resembled public transit more than a tour bus. We spent more time picking and dropping guests... More

Walkabout organised a 2 night trip to Ephesus & Cappdocia, and a day trip to Gallipoli for me. As usual I planned this at the last minute, so I walked in and booked these tours on a Monday night at 7pm and I was on a plane to Ephesus at 7:30 the next morning! There were a couple of obstacles... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
