Top ways to experience Beyazit Square and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is one of the most beautiful squares of Istanbul's history. Istanbul University, State Library, Beyazit Mosque are the symbolic buildings that are subject to films.
A book fair is held every year during Ramadan.
This place, which once was the heart of Istanbul, is not as well known as its old counterparts. Shops selling products at low prices, low-quality restaurants do not fit this historical texture. Attention should be paid to shopping so that you will not get bored afterwards.
Since there is a problem with car parking in the area, it is recommended to make trips and visits to this area by public transportation. The most popular public transport vehicle is the Kabataş - Bağcılar tramway line which passes through central places such as Karaköy, Eminönü, Sirkeci, Sultanahmet, Aksaray and Topkapi.

I am a big city girl, so I crave the culture, hustle and bustle around me. so beyazit square is that for me. you have some good decent street food stall, restaurants, café, shops etc. nearer to the grand bazaar you are more expensive the stuff is. shopkeepers on the street have a weird mentality though and I found them to have an attitude leaning towards rudeness. But restaurants are fine. and some shopkeepers are nice. but ratio of rude: nice is 70:30. So don't get in an bargain where you feel it is moving towards insults or arguments.

I had nothing particular to buy here, but the square is full of energy and just walking around is fun! There's not any danger in walking alone during the daytime. You should visit here after you have spent some time in Grand Bazaar. The west exit of Grand Bazaar is the nearest.
ここで特に買いたいものはありませんでしたが、グランドバザールを歩いた後に行ってみました。お店のスタッフはアラビア語で呼び込みしていたりします。ここだけは中東のバザール、スーク、という感じでした。

Filled with cheap shops and restaurants, and located close to the Grand Bazaar. Tram stops here.

The historic and always crowded square of Beyazıt district ! Around the square you can see the gigantic gate of Istanbul university, Beyazıt mosque and some big Inns ! You can easily reach Grandbazaar from the square ! You can also rest at cafes that are situated in old Inns around the square ! Must see

If you keep walking straight from grand bazaar entrance you will end up here.
The square is crowded, old and full of life so you'll feel being a local.
You can shop, eat doner and have a refreshing pomegranate or Orange juice that is made in front of you eyes.
A small tip to bargain when you shop and enjoy the nice good things you are going to take back home :)

Beyazıt Meydanı is very important part of the old Istanbul as it is very much like a cross road to Aksaray where you can shop at reaonable price range,to Grand Bazaar where you can see one of the best historical buildings of Istanbul which is still in service to its customers with thousands of shops and stores inside this big complex,to Sultanahmet area where you will find out most of the important touristic areas, museums
mosques, churces and other attractions with hundreds of restaurants and cafes&bars.Strongly recommended.
