Top ways to experience Galatasaray Island
The area
Neighbourhood: Besiktas
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.

The Galatasaray Islet (Galatasaray Adası, Kuruçeşme Adası) is a small island on the Bosphorus which is owned by Galatasaray Sports Club. It is located close to Kuruçeşme and offers truly spectacular views of the Bosphorus and the Bosphorus Bridge. An exclusive sports club with an amply dimensioned swimming pool and comfortable sun beds during the day, the place turns to a cool facility housing classy restaurants and clubs at night. There is a free ferry service from the European coast that can take you to the islet in only two minutes. Book your table days before if you're planning to go there for dinner.

This island is in the middle of the Bosperus and is owned by the football club Galatasaray. If you go there in the evening you can enjoy the illuminated bridge and the ships passing by as well as good food.

Especially at sunset this place was simply amazing! In the middle of the bosporus, a magnificent view of the illuminated bridge over a beautiful swimmingpool. Food was quite good as well!

Galatasaray Island was known with the biggest Turkish sports club's name. The teams for the club used to celebrate their trophies on that island after the championships. It was also used by locals as there was a cafe and restaurant. However the island was demolished for further renovation work and no one knows the future of the island. So once a jewel of Bosphorus and icon for the club now lies there in ruins. Shame for city's culture...

The only down side was the boat trip, it was very crowded, on the way in people were standing and sitting on the stairs, however when we got to the Island we forgot about it.
very nice Island, no wonder why it's called the Princesses Island.

Although I visited the island during autumn in Istanbul, it was very pleasing to be there!
The view is amazing, standing between the asian side and european side.
Whether you go to the restaurant or the rooftop bar upstairs, I can imagine it being a very hot place during the summer.
May not be a must during the winter but still an interesting spot to visit.

As a local of Istanbul, i would recommend everyone to visit this island, especially at night. If its a summer night you fall in love with Bosphorus.

This Island restaurant, or series of restaurants, bars and pool to be more correct, is really special. You take a short motorised boat ride from the Shore to the Island and then you are in another world. Lovely view of the Bridge especially at night whilst you enjoy your on-deck cocktails. Then meander on down to the restaurant of your choice.
Best in Summer but interesting all year round.
