This enormous palace was the Imperial residence of Ottoman sultans for almost 400 years. Although much of the palace is not accessible, the daily tours of the Harem are of great interest to tourists.

Number one place to visit at Istanbul!

The best place to visit. History, gardens, architecture, peace, breeze, lightning, fountains, all in one. The top one on the top ten list. Unforgettable place.

The Topkapi is an absolute must-see when in Istanbul, in fact it was the first thing I did see. it is right on the seafront on a hill tp in Sultanahmet, a great location for tourists as there are so many good bars and restaurants around to ea tin afterwards. The Topkapi should take most of the day to see,... More

The palace where Ottoman sultans have lived during the Ottoman Empire. Especially interesting part is the famous Harem.

Great historic place with loads of belongings of Prophet Pbuh and his family.. Really worth it. Tickets cost around 40 TL for each. You can get family tickets as well.

This palace consists of four yards and at the very end of the palace you can enjoy gorgeous view to Bosphorus strait. Beautiful architecture and cozy mini exhibitions!

I visited Topkapi twice, once with friends and once with family. I always enjoyed it. The place is beautiful, lots to experience but it could benefit from being more organised and slightly cleaner!

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
