I did the Istanbul day tour and had such a good time on 2 April 2017. Seda has much specialized training as a tour guide and knows so much information. She is very timely, and puts 110 percent effort. I would highly recommend her. I enjoyed St Sophia church, Hippodrome, Tapioca Palace, and the Spice Bazaar. Seda helped me get... More

We traveled across Turkey from Cappadocia to Kusadasi with Serkan and driver Mr. Vasey. They were a great team. We have traveled all around the world and Serkan has got to be one of our best guides ever! Not only is he is kind, and knowledgeable, with great English, he also has a great sense of humor making for an... More

We were two couples traveling together on a cruise from Rome to Abu Dhabi in November 2016. I had arranged for a private tour of Ephesus with Ephesus Shuttle (owned by Curio Travel). We had a great time and our guide for the day was both knowledgeable and very efficient. Based on this great experience, I decided to have a... More

I would like to thank Serkan of Curio Travel as well as our private tour guide Ms.Gez who is a perfect english speaker and helped us roam around the historical places in Istanbul. Cappadocia is a must to see... and hot balloon ride is must as well.

Our Greek isles and Turkey cruise ended in Istanbul where we extended a day to be able to tour the city. Our tour guide Sofiye was thankfully a half hour early as we cleared customs very fast. We were driven in a well appointed van to our hotel to drop off the luggage and then began a walking tour. We... More

Gizem Tuyce Can was our spirited guide of the historic area of Istanbul and she did a really great job of giving us the needed history and setting for the various sites we saw. We opted not to do the Bazaar, but instead did the Mosque of Suleyman instead. We still did the Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace and Hagia... More

While on a cruise stop in Ephesus, we took a private tour with Ephesus Shuttle and the tour was outstanding. So, we decided to use Curio Travel (the same company) for our tour at the next stop on the cruise: Istanbul. We are very happy we made that choice. Our tour was fantastic. Our tour guide, Gizem Aka, was fabulous.... More

We arranged a day tour from Curio Travel when our cruise ship docked in Istanbul and had a really enjoyable day. We were met at the dock side by our lovely tour guide Seda Cengiz and a small group of 10 people were taken to the heart of the city in luxury Mercedes mini bus. Seda was very knowledgable about... Having had a wonderful experience with Ephesus Shuttle a few years ago, I had no hesitation in booking through the same company for Istanbul when we visited last week. Everything this company does is efficient and professional. There is always a concern if you book independent excursions when you are cruising that you might not return to the ship in... More

We really dislike expensive cruise ship shore excursions that involve being herded around, slowly, with a busload of other passengers. I booked an Istanbul Walking Tour with Tram through Curio Travel. A guide met us at the ship and took us via tram directly to the Hippodrome and Blue Mosque. After the Mosque, we walked to Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia,... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
