One of the things that you have to do it’s here. To go there you have to find your way through back alleys at some point you will reach a locked door with an old man asking you for a 5 TL, once you get there the view it’s outstanding all over the city is spectacular.

You have to go upstairs on the rooftop! It is the best view of Istanbul and it's almost free because you need to tip a man to show you how to get to the roof(for us it costed 2 tl). But it is worth to see for sure.

The most impressive view out there. The place lets you take a look at Istanbul in its full pride. You'll have to tip the building guard to let you in.

It is just the most wonderful place I have yet visited in my life. To go there you have to find your way through backalleys and ancient (or just plain old ;) ) looking ailes. At some point you reach a locked door. There you have to look for the man with the keys. He will let you upstairs. (You... More

If you want a postcard-like photo with a great view of Istanbul this is the right place. Just make sure to get there on the day of the best weather during your stay and your photos will look amazing. Getting here is no problem with the help of google maps - its just few minutes walk of Grand Bazaar, so... More

Truly it is a marvelous place to watch Istanbul. It might be difficult to get there, studying the location before would be wise.

Wonderful scenery from the roof of an old market-place called "Valide Han". But you gotta get past some old, narrow street of İstanbul but at the end, the athmosphere worths it.

I am soooo happy I've been to this place which not everyone knows about!! It takes you back in time with the big door, old stairs and alleyways. Best view!! This place should be renovated or maybe not to avoid more tourists there...

And then the view is awesome. This place is not so secret, there were at least 20 people on this rooftop at any one time. and we took many amazing photos here. just hope people would stop jumping on the domes... advice to tourists who see this -- jump at your own risk. I felt the dome move when I... More

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
