We were in Tashkent for 2 nights. At the opera house they had a different performance nearly every day! We bought tickets for Aida, 3 USD each! Interesting experience. It was a Friday night and the hall was full.

We were most fortunate that Advantours managed to get us tickets for the Opening evening of the Outdoor Season. Very impressive ambience. Beautiful surroundings with a super colourful fountain at the rear and the opera house side in front. There were about 10 - 12...More

This Russian building is a real masterpiece. I suggest you to go watch a performance even if you don't know Russian just to see the building from inside. A Russian ballet will be good for non-Russian speakers. The prices for the performances are really inexpensive...More

I prefer to consider this place as museum rather than theater per se. Irrelevant of what they show on stage, everybody must see the overall constructional beauty and indoor decorations of this theare - and this will be a touch of Uzbek art.

If you have time one evening, take in the opera! A seat in the parterre cost the equivalent of USD6. The opera company itself is very talented, and the building is quite beautiful. You will likely have your choice of seats; the night I saw...More

Set in a square with a fountain, the building is interesting and has been refurbished. There is an event board outside the front and to the left, which displays its forthcoming events. Sadly we did not have time to see a show.

Recently refurbished and stunning! We heard the opera singer Mussery Razzakova who was fabulous. Go formally dressed so you don’t feel out of place and be sure to get there at least half an hour in advance to explore the wall paintings and ornate, gilded...More

The building has been renovated recently to a good standard and houses the city's opera and ballet theatre. I saw Romeo and Juliet and thoroughly enjoyed both the performance and the music. Several shows a week - mostly standard classical stuff but done to a...More

Located a couple blocks from Mustaqillik Maydoni (Independence Square), the Navoi theater is Uzbekistan’s premier venue for opera and ballet. Consecrated in 1940 and completed in 1947, it seats 1,400 people for various shows; I was lucky to catch a performance of “Swan Lake” on...More
