Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When you start your journey from Tashkent, it looks very good to witness a different world altogether. This is a nicely maintained madrasa where live calligraphy can be seen. Courtyard is beautiful with well maintained garden. Most of the room are closed, but the care takers are very pleasant and friendly.

Built in 1569 by sultans Barak Khan and Dervish Khan. This historical monument is the largest of the 23 madrassas of old Tashkent and has a traditional architectural design. Still serves as a Koran School for future Imams today.

This is similar to dozens of other madrassas in bukhara and samarkand. If u r not going to visit these cities, then do visit it, otherwise u can easily drop it from ur schedule.

Place is quite nice, there is a lot of grass, but the security guard is rude.
I've just wanted to make few photos and he started screaming I have to pay for entrance. I was trying to explain that I do not want to go inside the mosque - I would like to make few photos - but he didn't listen and ask me to go out :-(
There was just one such unkind person in whole Tashkent.

If you visit chorsu bazaar this place is just 10min of walking away. Its quite nice but don't expect it to be like Samarkand or Bukhara...but it gives you a good impression what you are going to see on your onward journey. Prices are acceptable and the garden inside is a very nice place to relex after a visit to the buzzling markets surrounding it.

This medressa has a serene aura about it, but if you are planning on visiting Bukhara, Khiva or Samarkand then it is not that interesting as you will see more grand and original medressas.
It is however one of the few buildings that survived the earthquake and it is still being used as a school.

Kukeldash Madrassah of Tashkent is located near Main Chorsu Bazaar and can be approached by disembarking at Chorsu Metro-Station. Standing in-front of Madrassah in cool atmosphere, we also enjoyed an excellent view of 'Beruniy Street' and elegant Juma Mosque, adjacent to Madrassah. The day we visited these attractions, Madrassah was closed due to a public holiday on the eve of Muslim's festival "Eid-Ul-Azha" and therefore, we couldn't see the class-rooms of 'Islamic Studies'. Soon after entering Madrassah, an aged care-taker welcomed and briefed us about the history and the studies imparted to Muslim students there. The entry fee per person was Soum 2,000/- but we didn't buy the tickets because Madrassah on that day was inactive. Despite holiday, many foreigners and locals had come there to see Madrassah and the Mosque. This perhaps was the only Madrassah left out to be an 'Islamic-Institute' in the country while many others had been converted into small shops and rented-out to mediocre Uzbek community to earn their livelihood. Beside the structure and the architect, visiting a functional "Center of Islamic Studies" was of great spiritual value.

The views are nice, but the inside of the madrasah is small. There is a small ticket price. Also, the shop upstairs is nice and the craftsman sells his handmade goods.
