Independence Square used to be Lenin Square. There are many government buildings nearby and a beautiful fountain display. Many people there, but it wasn't crowded

Use to be a main street for walking, military parades etc during soviet time. Now, completely locked, local police is everywhere, you cannot go anywhere except the areas they allow you to go. Very hot in summertime, very cold during the winters. Unfriendly and empty.

Impressive architecture and well kept grounds make this a pleasant location for a short walk and visit whilst in Tashkent. You would not need to spend longer than 45 minuted to an hour here.

This entire area is a nice place to walk around. A lot of greenery and many monuments all around to interest history lovers. Not crowded at all and its one of the must visit spots in Tashkent.
