Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I go there quite often. Every local or guest of the capital also likes to go there during nice weather. And the weather is nice for most part of the year. You will see lots of people making picnics during summer evenings. The monument is surrounded with big park. And during summer times, when even the evenings are hot, the place is relatively pleasant, because it is located higher from the rest part of the city and there are lots of greenery which is regularly watered. So, you might want to take a blanket and something to eat or watch when you go there.

Also, there are bike rentals. There is a restaurant there and you can find a toilet if you need to.

the monument itself is beautiful. The ticket costs really cheap if you are Turkmen citizen. Anyways, no one is checking passports when you get into elevator. Elevator takes you up to the monument. There is small museum like thing inside. Also you can take another elevator to the top and see the magnificent city. there are covered places for picnics on a rainy day and lots of benches if you do not like the idea of sitting on the grass or if you forgot to take blanket with you or if the grass is still damp from recent watering.

Always pleasant experience no matter you go there for picnic or for the view. Also, if it is a holiday season or something and you know that there will be fireworkds, the area around monument provides good view to the whole city and the fireworks. you do not need to go up to the top of the monument for a view.

Adviced.

My toddler son Richard and I walked all the way to this Monument of Neutrality from the Archabil Hotel. It was SO HOT!!! We hiked all the way through the Karakum desert!!! I was pushing my son Richard in his baby stroller!!! I'm not sure if this was such a great idea! However, we finally made it and snapped some photos of the monument. The guards told visitors to not take pictures of them and only the monument itself. I only give it three stars because it was unbearably hot and dry the day we went. However, the monument itself is ENORMOUS once you get up close to it! It looks like a Fantastic Rocket Ship from the the Future all decked out in White Marble & Gold! I see it had elevators on its legs but it appeared to be closed. Only the guards were there. I wish we could have gone up the leg elevators and gone up to the top. Maybe they will open it up later and we can do that! Anyway, I posted some pictures of my toddler son Richard and I visiting this colossus!

This three legged monument celebrates Turkmenistan's Declaration of Neutrality which was endorsed by the United Nations in 1995. There are two soldiers on guard here all the time, with the shift changing every two hours with all due ceremony. Like other places we visited there was no one else here despite it being the middle of the day. As elsewhere lots of flag poles, trees, grass and fountains round about ensure it stands out, and gives good views over the city and surrounding mountains.

Our guided tour in Ashgabat had us stopping here after sunset. Our guide tried to see if we could ride to the top but he was told it wasn't working. I guess usually you can go to the top.

This is the tallest monument in Turkmenistan and cost 12 million to build. It was built by the 1st President to celebrate the country's declaration to the UN in 1995 that they would never go to war or interfere in the affairs of other countries.

The arch of neutrality was constructed in 1998, three years after recognition of the UN General Assembly as Turkmenistan being a neutral country. It was not a part of our tour program, and we took bus 8 to this site. We didn't take a photo from near the bus stop, but elected to walk back to the road and take a photo, as we had another attraction that we were rushing to.

This is just another of the many monuments in Turkmenistan, and is not really impressive. Other buses that stop here include 21 and 35. It is a 1km walk west of the National Museum, and Independence Park is a short bus ride away. The wedding palace is a short drive west of this monument on Archabil Highway.

Of all Ashgabat's monuments this is the one that shouldn't be missed because of the views from the top. A small elevator at the side will take you up for less than a $. From the top you get exceptionally good views of the capital.
At the foot of the monument guards stand to attention. Photographing the guards is forbidden, when we arrived they were changing so we got to see the little ceremony.

It is really big. We were told later that there are two restaurants, one at either side of the park.
