I've been to this temple for several times. This place can be recommended to whoever wants to meditate in the power of Gods/Goddesses. Being a Buddhist I've been meditating for nearly 5 yrs now.. And for me this plc is ideal for Metta meditation because when I'm present in this sacred plc the only thought comes to my mind is "bless you all (even the ones who have done wrong to me)"... Planning to visit this plc often and spend few hours in meditation..

This is a gorgeous Buddhist temple with amazing art work. Take your time and allow at least an hour for the visit. Be sure to also allow time to study the art work in the museum.

This is an important Hindu kovil among the Hindus here. The architecture is beautiful. The entrance painted colourfully. This dedicated to Lord Shiva but other deities also here.

The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is constructed with South Indian granite and roofed over with a high ceiling which reminds one of Sri Kala Hasti Temple in Andhra, India. It is very quiet in spite of the crowds and maintained extremely well. It looks like a very old temple but the additional sanctums around appear to be add ons of later years. They maintain a goshala (dairy) which supplies milk to cater to the needs of the temple

The temple located just on the main road near Kochikada / Hettiawatta in Kotahena area of Colombo. For the vehicles the assess point is via the main road though the main entrance to the temple is on the other side.
It is a good compound. When you enter the compound from the main entrance and just before entering the complex on the left you will find idols of Lord Hanuman/ Anjaneya and Goddess Amman. you walk around to complex and in the back towards the right hand side there is a cow shed with lot of cows. you can feed these cows with your hand if you wish to. You can park your car on the right hand side of the complex right upto to the entrance of the complex. There is also tap to wash your hands and legs on the left hand side just before you enter the complex.
As you enter the temple complex there is a idol of Lord Suryan on the left and LOrd Chandran on the right. The main presiding deity is Lord Shiva. You will find it very imposing and will feel the power of the god when you stand in front of it. You will find the Goddess on the right side of the entrance to sanctum sanctorum. This place will be like a huge hall. After taking darshan walk around the complex. You will find several idols including Lord Ganesa on the left hand corner at the back of the complex, statute of Shiva as Nataraja, Lord Vishnu, Lord Murugan. You also have a navagraha and Bhairavar idol.
From the architect of the main complex you can see that this temple is centuries old.
Just as you exit the temple complex you will find a complex on the right hand side where you can rest in the corridor. There is also wash room facilities there.
You will certainly feel at peace once you take the darshan and blessings of the god here.
