We visited the park on a nice sunny afternoon, as we had been told that it was a good time to see the famous Przewalski wild horses (Tahki in Mongolian) when they come down to drink.
We visited the museum and watched the explanatory video before getting in the car and driving along the tracks to a good viewing spot.
We were lucky, we first saw the horses in the distance, but as the afternoon progressed they actually came down to drink near our observation post.
The negative part is the behavior of the people, there are people who do not think about others, they try to approach outside the permitted limits to take photos and the only thing they achieve is that the animals leave. Vigilantes should take a more active part in preventing this.
We also saw a deer, several birds of prey and quite a few marmots. Recommended visit.

Even thought the get did not have an attached toilet, overall, our stay here was nice. The place was well managed and it was well located being in a national park. They brought in a musician and locals to demonstrate local customs and food and it was great. The food for dinner and breakfast were really good. The place seemed to be well managed. And, you will meet some of the most interesting travelers here due to the wild horses nearby.

If you in UB have the time, then visit here, can be visited in a day but best to have an overnight near by in a Ger camp, include time to visit the dunes near entrance of the park. The main reason to visit is to see the horses but there is so much else deer, squirrels, marmots, birds, all will probably make an appearance. They say the best time to visit is morning in evening when the horses are coming down to the wearing holes ot drink but you may see them at other times. Worth visiting the small information centre at the gate and you can arrange a guide. The park is big and has a couple of routes to be followed, most use the smaller route, that usually is good for seeing lots of wildlife.

Spending time in the steppes and mountains observing the Takhi as an eco volunteer for the Hustai Park researchers was a peaceful and beautiful experience. Living in a ger for 10 days was a great way to start and end my days.
The staff takes very good care of visitors as well as the park and its animals.

Kind of off roads trip. It was raining in mid June and the soils were slippery. Main focus is the to see the land of the wild horse. There are two main trails. Shorter trail about 36km. Longer trail 80km long. Animals such as Przewalski’s horse, marmot, deer and Ancient tombs and big rocks stone.

My wife and I visited this as a day trip. We had a good lunch here and learned a few things at the park’s information center. We spent about two hours driving around the park and saw a lot of marmots, deer and a group of wild horses. There were also a lot of domesticated farm animals in the area.
We liked the park but didn’t love it. We spent about 6 hours driving from UB round trip. I think an overnight trip would likely be better as most tour companies add a few additional stops with an overnight trip.
Note that there aren’t any traditional roads in the park - mostly very rough pathways. It would be a huge mistake for most people to drive themselves to the park.

If you make it to Ulaanbaatar, then you must take a trip to Hustei. Our party stayed in gers and the food was included. We got to explore the beautiful park and got to see the only wild horse left in the world. The whole trip was also very economical and staff was helpful.

This is a day trip from UB but there is Ger accommodation if you want to stay overnight. This can be a bit 'hit and miss' as you are not guaranteed to see anything. There is a small display and video set up in one of the Gers at the entrance. You certainly won't see wild Przewalski horses frolicking by the road-side or amongst your camp. The best we saw was two mares off in the distance through binoculars. The lunch provided was good and that's it before the long scenic trip back to UB.

We took a day trip to the park from Ulaanbaatar. We went through an hour ride of a dirt dusty road before the entrance of the park. A good 4 wheel car with AC is better. We did 1 hr. horse ride inside the park for $8 per person. Enjoyed The horse ride on the flat land. There is not much trees. You can see the wild horses through park rangers’ binoculars, you cannot go near them, even if you like to see them closely you need to hike the hill (1 hr. 20 mins total hike) & it is prohibited to go close to them. You need a DSLR camera with powerful lenses to capture the photo of the wild horses even if you hike to the hill. There is pretty much nothing to see in this park, it is very flat. They provide buffet lunch inside the facility. The quality & variety of food was good. Western Toilets are available inside the facility. If someone has absolutely nothing to do & need to kill time, can visit this park in my opinion.

Beautiful nature, with horses, goats, sheep and cows grazing freely in endless fields of short grass.
Magical silence.
You’ll see also the circular gher for the rare nomadic people who live from sheep farming

We are two backpackers staying in Kharakorin for now. We are very exciting to rich your beautiful parc but we didnt found any good information for now. We are looking for public transportation from Kharakorin to Hustai park, can you help us in any way ? Is it possible to get a ride inside the park with a guide or Do we need to organise everything before coming ?
Written 24 July 2017
Bonjour,
I think you should organize everything before going to Hustai Park. I would recommend a collective shuttle that you can book in Kharakorin.
We travelled in a private SUV with a private driver and a private guide. So my information about collective transportation from Kharakorin to Hustai is very limited.
Inside the park, there are two main trails : a shorter trail (36km) and a longer trail (about 80 km)
We stayed in a very nice gher camp : the Moilt camp, that I would recommend.`
You can phone the Hustai Tourist Resort : 21-245087
Enjoy your trip !

I have a hard time finding this park on maps of Mongolia, including the "Location" map linked with Trip Advisor. Can you tell me what other spellings for the park name I should be looking for, please.

Happy Traveling :)

Hello, Goodluck for your trip and enjoy it. You can go by your car and there will be guide who can show you the takhi(wild horse). The price is not expensive but should bring a cash. Because there is no ATM.

I'd like to know if there is a way to see Hustai in one day?
Written 28 November 2015
Agree with other answers, you can see the park in one day and clearly, it is hit or miss with horses and wildlife. I would worry about getting a late start back to UB. I don't consider the roads safe during the day and at night, impossible. Have a nice meal and stay in a Ger and travel back early the next morning after breakfast. I would check and see what is open if out of season but local guides and tour companies could help.
