That Dam

Nothing really special to see, walk past it on your way to somewhere else. Incorporate it as part of your Vientiane city tour.

I saw the That Dam when walking around in the city. It was interesting to see the ancient tower, which reflects historical signature.

We saw this on both December 28th and January 2nd and both days it was covered in trash. There is also not a lot of context for why it is still standing, or why it is surrounded by hotels and massage parlors. Some more context would have greatly helped in my appreciation of this That.

We happened to stay very near to the stupa, and every time we had to go to the city centre, we had to pass via the stupa route. I ignored it the first and the second time, but after that every time I passed through it, the stupa started giving me some majestic feel. Sitting in the middle of chaos,... More

You insist on being taken there, the driver smiles. He takes you to a big circle and inside the circle you see this big structure and a few others like yourself watching all the grass grow over the monument and wondering where to go next! On a more serious note, the symmetrical structure which looks remarkably in shape, appears to... More

Just happened to see it while I was walking on the road... it looks abandoned but in this sense, it seems to have its own unique-ness.

We found this Stupa by accident, it was nice to see but it looks like the locals have forgotten about it, all overgrown and not maintained

There isn't a lot to see here, basically a stuoa i the middle of the intersection. But it is definitely worth seeing because of is age. Hire a bike, cycle around the city and past this on your tour.

It's not an interesting destination but there are restaurant and wine bar around there. Better for relaxation after work or entertain with friends.
