Unfortunately Pha That Luang was not open when we visited, however even from the outside it's an interesting site. The Reclining Buddha is easy to find in the nearby in the park

Most temples and landmarks in Laos are underwhelming and not worth visiting compared to those elsewhere in SE Asia, but this is the exception. The best landmark to see in Laos

This is the Stupa that is the official emblem of Laos. It appears on official Lao buildings, on passports and much more. When we visited it had been spruced up ready for it's anniversary in early December. Quite spectacular, it's worth a visit.

There are several buildings in this area. It is simply outstanding and not far from Patuxai or the center of the city for that matter. Beautiful architecture, peaceful and very well taken care of. You can pray or just stoll and relax. Tuk tuk drivers...More

Reclining Buddha. Its a must watch. Very good colour and attractive. Best time to visit in at 11 or 12 mid day so the shining would be at max.
