Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The first time I saw the Ak-Sai Glacier I knew I was in the mountains. I went on a two day trek with TUK and spent the night at Ratsek Cabin sleeping in tents that we rented from TUK. It was great! The glacier is 3500 m high in the Ala-Archa gorge.
How to get there. Take a taxi from Bishkek for ~500 som per person and 450 som for the car to enter the park then go up the Ala-Archa Gorge on the left side there is a small trail with little to now sings on the trail after 2-3 hours you will see the Ala-Archa waterfall on your left and they you will have 2-3 more hours trekking up to Ratsek Cabin.
The mountains near the glacier are:
Semenov-Tyan-Shan peak 4875 m
Korona 4860 m
Free Korea peak 4740 m
Baylyan-Bashi peak 4700 m
Simagin peak 4400 m
Box peak 4240 m

We hiked up the Ak-Sai Glacier last summer when we were in the area. We have hiked glaciers before in the Rocky Mountains and they are always fairly easy hikes but still one must be wary as it is nature and she likes to play with you. Come prepared and anticipate it will take you the better part of the day, bring your camera as you will be surrounded by beauty, your camera will never do it justice but nice to have the visual to go with the memories.

If you hike and stay at Ratsek Hut, you must really continue hiking 500 meter above where the glacier becomes flat, wide, white and superb. The 'trail' from Ratsek, on the moraine on ithe eft of the icefall is unpleasant, but it is well worth it. There are good camping sites at the top and further away a small yellow cabin (Korona hut, i think) that you reach hiking on the ice (easier on the right side of the glacier). There is also a small pass on the scree, not too difficult, that links it to the other glacier above Ratsek, so you can do a loop.
